Cycle For Shelter 2010 Summary

On Saturday September 18th, I set the record for the longest solo one day bike ride in Durham region for charity. I cycled 200 kilometres through all eight municpalities and met four of the local Mayors in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

Thanks to everyone who generously donated their money and time to this initiative. To date the amount raised is $3,300! The Shelter Foundation is forwarding 100% of the funds raised from the Cycle for Shelter to the local women's crisis centre, Herizon House, located in Ajax.

More than one hundred women and over one hundred children stayed at Herizon House last year and the money raised will be going towards helping these individuals start new lives, free of domestic violence.

The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada's largest public foundation exclusively dedicated to supported women's shelters and violence prevention programs.
